UGX is a non-IBAN currency issued by the Bank of Uganda.2
Subunits (cents) are no longer in use; all transactions are in whole shillings.3
SWIFT messages must use permitted characters: letters, numbers, spaces, and symbols / – ? : ( ) . , ‘ +4
Non-supported characters will be transformed to EBCDIC equivalent or removed on a best endeavors basis in order to comply with the restrictions of the Swift payment network. The permitted characters on the Swift network are letters, numbers, spaces and the following symbols: / – ? : ( ) . , ‘ +
